CHAPTER NINE
THERESA
September 30th, 2007

I have lost my older sister and nothing will ever be the same. Who killed her and why? Why would someone, sick someone, kill Kaylynn? She was the best. I was so close to Kaylynn, so close. You killer, you evil killer stole my sister.
I refused to eat, to talk, to go to school. I sat in my room, I sat, I cried.
I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason, and good can come out of the darkest of storms. What good could come out of Kaylynn’s tragic death?

“Theresa, honey, you need to get up.”
I turned in my bed to see my mother standing in the doorway. Her face was puffy and tear streaked, her clothes were old and baggy and she had on her glasses, not contacts. It hurt me so much to see my mother like this.
“Mommy.”
I got up and wrapped my arms around her.
“Mommy,” I sniffed, “Why would someone k-kill Kaylynn?”
She whispered something in my ear, but I was too sad to understand.
