Excerpt: Special Like You

Born in a world like yours, I was small at first, and then I grew. I was born in a cave; the snow blew coldly outside in a world that was foreign to me, as it would be to you. My father tells me that this world is different from all of the rest, and I never believed him until I saw him again. Mother said I grew up strong, she was afraid of my talents at first, if I would not fit with the clan, but I grew up fine, healthy, well, and fully in control of my habits. However, this is not a story of a black and white bilingual-speaking cat; this is a story of the humans in my life. This is their story.
