Different Reflections
an excerpt

From Chapter 1 - Angelica's story

With great speed, she leapt out of bed, throwing back the elegant sheets with one graceful measure, and began to head towards the door of her bedroom. Her room had four doors. Four! One of them clearly didn’t lead out of the room; they were paned with glass and covered with beautiful sheer white curtains. She could see beyond them onto a beautiful green lawn, oak trees with red and yellow leaves falling, and the slightest streak of sunlight bounding over the horizon. So she tried the second door, only to find herself in a small but cozy bathroom. She decided to take care of business before trying to find her way out of this strange house, so she turned on the light.
As she did so, she looked into the mirror. Instead of seeing herself, Angelica, where her beautiful dark brown hair and her deep brown eyes, she saw a different girl entirely. This girl that looked back at her had long blond hair, blue eyes, and fair white skin. Angelica looked blankly into the mirror, not recognizing herself for the first time in her life. She screamed a small scream.
