Brief Author Bio: I am a music teacher who writes novels simply to have something to do while my husband writes novels. Each of my novels takes place in the fictional town of Mercy Falls and the nearby newly annexed town of Masonville. Greenfield, New Palestine, and more importantly, Irvington, are all real life inspirations for these fictional places. Each of my books belongs in a different genre. My first was a cozy murder mystery, and last year I wrote one in science fiction (sort of). This year, I'm tackling historical fiction. |

Synopsis: Crossroads at Mercy Falls
A small Indiana town in 1928 deals with a world changing all around them. The local university accepts not only women but African Americans to their school. Although most in the town welcome the change, a small but powerful group of Ku Klux Klan members are determined to stand in the way of progress.
Excerpt: Crossroads at Mercy Falls
Tabitha walked hand in hand with her friend into the garden. They had been laughing together all afternoon. There couldn’t be a more perfect day than this. The path was well worn, smooth, and almost shiny in the spring sunshine.
Life couldn’t be better.
The strangest sight caught her eye just around the corner. She ran toward a very small figure in the road. Her creamy yellow dress fluttered in the breeze as she came upon the animal. A cat. Its neck was broken. It lay with a frightened gaze in its dead eyes.
As she looked, the creature shrunk before her eyes until nothing remained but fur, bone, and those dead eyes. Its mouth opened slowly and smoked bellowed out and all around her.
She screamed and reached out. All around her was darkness as the acrid smoke burned her mouth and throat. She felt nothing and began to stumble in the darkness.
“Help me Solomon!” she screamed as she woke up sweating in her bed.
