Metá (working title)
an excerpt

My ears started to bleed as I heard the noise of the sparrows twittering outside my window. My first reaction was to cover my ears but experience had taught me that that was absolutely futile.
I opened my eyes to my dark, moonlit room and sat up out of bed. I stood in front of the open window and watched the happy birds dance merrily in the tree.
There was an echoing gun shot and the birds sang no more.
I closed my eyes and drifted calmly into the silence, wanting it to never end. Unfortunately it did. With some faint 'meow's the neightbour's cat had taken a sudden interest in the bird.
I looked out of my window at the scene in front of me: the fresh corpse of the bird was being juggled around like a toy by the kitten that had decided to lie in the mucky blood that stained the grass.

(Note: That's not it. That's an English exercise we did today... That was the best reaction from the class in a long time. Once I have sorted out enough of the beginning for my Metá I'll post it up. I just wanted to put something in here.)
