Medicine-man [Blazing Eyes]
an excerpt

Even if the roads were infested with goblins and hantu demons, it would still be a bad choice to choose tree-abundant areas to make your escape. In this land, taking detours through these areas is a dangerous idea, but in my situation I believe this would be the best way to avoid dying. The tree and hantu demons should have covered the nearby roads by now. This is bad; I have to reach the nearby town as soon as possible or the people would be suffering from their diseases. Or so that was what the reports said when they were delivered.

The trees were tall in this region; the rustling of their green leaves brought me seclusion and privacy as I walked with compass in hand. Brown leaves were scattered all over the ground and the rodents and other small beasts stayed put inside their dens. It was solitude in this place, absolutely no traces of foreign sounds other than my footsteps and consistent breathing, but it gave me nothing but the feeling of uneasiness. The most dangerous places in this land is when it gets quiet… too quiet. To remain calm was the only necessity for me to reach my next destination.

The sun disappeared and the pale moon ruled high in the sky as the lesser light. I could see well in the dark, even if the moon were not there and only the stars remained I could still see as well as the day.

Two hours have passed since I had been walking without hesitation. Two hours was nothing to me, I could go on for a number of hours without resting. It was my job, to travel that is. I’m used to it.

It is true, my high vitality and supernatural night vision testifies who I am. I’m not as they call: human. My curse has made me closer to my profession and a rare sight in this country. This is why I am who I am: the curse to hinder reoccurring curses. As long as I remain a medicine man, one day I can be of help to everyone I love.
