Synopsis: The Tears of Angelcynn

The present is one of uncertainty. The initial thrust of the invasion of the sea-raiders has been stopped, though the mead-halls of Angelcynn are deprived of bright young warriors. The Lords of Angelcynn erected the Shieldwall to keep the forces of King Guthrum at bay.

Yet there are whispers that the Shieldwall will fail. Many have lost fathers, uncles, and brothers battling the invasion. Inhuman warriors, some say; trained by demons, say others, borne from the darkness of the Black Winter itself. Though dealt a stunning defeat a generation ago, the looming fear once again oppresses the minds of even the most virtuous and valiant men. The Kingdoms are in disarray, the servants of Guthrum the Sea-fiend stir in the shadows, and his armies threaten to cover all of Angelcynn with darkness.

The brothers Wulfbrand and Wulfgar are the sons of the great lord Aethelwulf, who defied King Guthrum but fell to his sword. They have been raised in exile but the weight of their inheritance burdens the family and now, threatened with the resurgent evil, they must gather the broken armies to defeat the rising power of the Heathen King, once and for all. But a more sinister evil still stalks Angelcynn's ancient ruins and betrayal haunts the hearts of men...
