Synopsis: Salt and Spears
Tomas doesn't like travelling, he doesn't like salt and he certainly doesn't like camels. In fact Tomas doesn't really like very much which is rather unfortunate for him considering due to some financial difficulties he now finds himself on the other side of the world. In particular the unexplored part, the bit where all the nasty stories of man eating spiders and giant statues that turn people in to goats come from. All he wants to do is head back home to Algemin Daim alive but the deeper in to the desert the party travels the less likely that seems to happen. At some point, Tomas realises he should have taken a desk job….
Excerpt: Salt and Spears
They were heading to the other side of the world on the whim of an obsessed scientist and a wealthy man who was obviously very in need of some entertainment. Tomas wonder why he even bothered to indulge in any form of hope, it was clear; they were all doomed.
At least he had eight weeks before he was forced to suffer their folly, so until then he had time to perhaps find a way out of the whole thing. Maybe the Bermuda would get captured by pirates! Surely they would appreciate a properly trained healer among their crew and he would happily oblige. At least with a pirate you knew what you were getting as opposed to a whole continent of salt plains. Well, obviously you were going to get a lot of salt, but who knew what else lived there! All sorts of horrid stories came from that region of the world, some in comparison made getting invaded by pirates look positively peachy.
