Brief Author Bio: *Spineless* G.L. Morrison is a professional writer, journalist, editor and teacher with more awards (poetry, playwriting, fiction) and publishing credits (print/online magazines, anthologies, CD-ROM and even Canadian Cable TV) than you can shake the proverbial lucky stick at but not a single published novel to her somewhat tarnished name. O Best Beloveds, that I could join the industrious writers' chorus of "keep submitting"s and "20th times the charm" but shamefully over the years I have refused three separate small press publishers' offers with "I'll get back to you when it's more ___"... and the years roll by with the mss never becoming the literary gem/first novel I had promised them and myself. So I roll with the years from wunderkind to curmudgeon with a career of contributors notes or plucked from the print potluck for mention in the foreward or a review without my name gracing the book's spine or mast alone. *Spineless.* I come to Nano meekly to commit to the great and multiple everyday work of JUST DOING IT. Hoping to lose my cowardice in the face of our collective courage. Perfect is the enemy of Good. Never good enough is never done. Let this be the year I don't simply brush 50,000 words (more or less) aside as 'a project possibly worth revisiting/revising'. "No word written is ever wasted," says the author of over ten unfinished novels. |

Synopsis: Conscious: A Metanovel (50,000 streaming words)
The intent this year is to work on a creative memoir with fictional lapses and philosophical rants... something arbitrary and stream of consciousness... in order to not fret about the marketing aspects and editorial goals with the intention that bits and pieces will more likely be resurrected/co-opted for other uses than simply hold together as a novel. But I could surprise myself with something novelrific.
Excerpt: Conscious: A Metanovel (50,000 streaming words)
around 11pm
"Oh no! Well I've got an hour to catch up. Do these words count?" The countess of Nano wondered aloud.
