The Demon Lord's Assassin
an excerpt

Time for another lesson. Magic isn’t good or evil. It’s the creature that wields it that gives the magic its classification. Forget all that nonsense about white and black and any other color you want to attribute to it. Just like everything else in the world, magic is grey. For example: If I cast a fireball that lights a campfire, that’s a pretty useful and therefore ‘good’ thing. If that fireball were cast in a warehouse and a city block was leveled because of it… that’s a bad thing. It’s all a matter of personal perception.
My personal perceptions in those days were pretty bleak. I’d traded off part of my soul to retrieve the man that the woman I loved cared for. I’d made a bargain, my soul for his, until he died. You guessed it; he couldn’t die either. He’s still somewhere out there, my polar opposite, and working for the betterment of the world as a healer of children.
I don’t plan to let him get anywhere near me. It’s complicated, but I’m sure you can understand.
