Being a Teacher

“The worst crime a teacher can commit is to let their students walk across that stage unqualified to be a Citizen of this country.” That’s what my old Civics teacher once told me when I stayed after to catch up on homework. I’ll be honest, I hated that class. At the time I had absolutely no interest in what he had to say and, being that I was a sophomore (a smart fool) I obviously didn’t need to know all that “mumbo-jumbo”. Well, I told him that, and I swear to God he would have slapped me across the face for my stupidity. He didn’t, but I never forgot that look he gave me. I slowly began paying attention and I realized something that my teacher, Mr. Hunberg, had been saying since the beginning of that Semester; He was absolutely brilliant.
