Excerpt: Playing with My Heart
I’ve known Rocky for, like, ever. No, really. The first time we met was at Rocky’s baby shower. I was five weeks old.
I remember that day well.
Not from my own baby memories, of course. Just from listening to our moms tell the story over and over. And over. According to them, it was love at first sight. As if spit-up could ever be attractive.
They’ve been plotting since before we were born to marry us off to each other someday. And, you know, it’s not like he’s not a cool guy and stuff. But, still, marry him? Um, gross. I can’t even imagine kissing him.
By the way, his real name isn’t Rocky. It’s William James Rockwell, the third. Seriously.
Not that there’s anything wrong with being a William or having roman numerals at the end of your name. It’s just sooo not him.
