Nocternia
an excerpt

I came home like I always did, first by swinging by the park. It’s a pretty good park, one play-structure. The really old kind, made mostly out of wood, complete with a rickety bridge that joins one tower to another. It’s a real wonder that the city hasn’t taken it down yet, they had taken down all the other “unsafe” (or fun if) structures in the area. The shabby figure of Thunder bobbed back and forth in front of the structure. I walked forward and sat down on the horse’s saddle. By now I was much too old to ride Thunder, and I didn’t, for fear of breaking the old stallion. And that’s when I first saw the pooka, of course back then I was gullible and thought he was what he seemed to be, a sleek black cat.
