Synopsis: The Fool of the World
Dedalus is renowned across the city-states of Greece for his engineering prowess, and all the other members of his family seem to share his genius. All except for Icarus, that is. Taking after his late mother’s ‘barabarism,’ with his blond hair and mischievous attitude, Icarus often finds himself teased as the greatest fool in the the world.
When his family disappears after undertaking a job for a faraway king, Icarus takes it upon himself to go after them. Beseeching the gods for aid and counsel, he is surprised to receive it --- but the gods’ payment proves difficult to fulfill. Icarus journeys beyond the Pillars of Hercules, where he is charged to ferry 7 passengers to their final destination. These 7 people prove invaluable as Icarus attempts to save his family; but when Icarus faces Death, will his family – or his new-found friends – do the same for him?
A re-telling of the myth ‘The Fall of Icarus,’ and the folktale ‘The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship.’ Also heavily reinterpreted as the 7 people and scenarios Icarus faces: ‘James Bond,’ ‘Amelia Earhart,’ ‘Frankenstein,’ ‘Strega Nona,’ ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ and ‘Persephone.’
