“I can’t see a thing!! I don’t know where I’m going!” Jack’s voiced shook with fear as he ran along the dark road. “Where are we going?”
“Head for the forest”, Nicole yelled, “I think they are closing in on us!”
“Quick, hide behind that patch of brush. Right here duck down Nicole. Be quiet!” Jack said firmly.
Chris asked, “What’s that rustling in those brushes?”
“I don’t know,” Nicole quivered.
“Be quiet both of you! They’re coming!” Jack whispered forcefully.
Jack, Nicole, and Chris sat as quiet as they could. Nicole’s heart pounded in her chest. Chris closed her eyes tight. Jack watched the road intensely. His eyes were staring into the blackness for any signs of movement. Chris wiped again a tear. “I’m so scared! Let’s just go home”, sobbed Chris.
“Nicole who are those guys? I know you know. So you better start talking”, said Jack.
“I don’t know! What makes you think I know”, replied Nicole.
“We can’t stay here and we can’t go back to the cabin. We should follow the road to town. We can then ask the sheriff for help”, said Jack.
The road leading into town was snow covered. The air was bone chilling cold.
“You know what is going on Nicole! You know why those men were chasing us. You saw something that you weren’t supposed too and now we are being chased because of you. So you better tells us what is going on”, Jack insisted.
“I don’t know anything! I don’t know what you are talking about Jack so shut up!”
