Brief Author Bio:

Syd/Squid has been writing seriously since the age of seven, silly short stories since 6, and telling tales from birth. Her first book (unsuccessfully completed and now gone) was 'Ivy the Woodfaery.' What else is a seven year old, fantasy-crazed girl supposed to do?

As she got older, she began to realise she had an addiction. All she thought about was lined paper and pencils, since at the time she didn't use a computer. At nearly fourteen, plots and characters raided her brain, taking up most of the room up there. (They haven't gone away yet.)

Squid's plots, since her mind is maturing (amazingly) and her imagination gets jumbled up with reality, have become increasingly odd. Some of the stuff she writes is rubbish, but the best stuff is that given to her from a higher power...meaning, yes, Jesus. It does say in the Bible that we are to 'write in books the words which are given to us.' And that is Syd's passion - writing the words given to her, for the One who gave them.

Syd currently resides in the forest of Silenthelm, where she shares her room with Felix the House Ghost, who is fussed at for doing countless annoying things to distract her. She has arachnophobia, dreams in muted colours, and drinks hot tea.

Synopsis: The War of Solium

War between Sireens (bad, from Bain) and Holmanites (good, from Helm). Takes place in the country of Solium (Latin word for 'throne.') The Sireens, finally unable to control their angst, ambushed the Holmanites in attempt to take the throne. However, with their history of slaughter without reason, they are unlikely to be given any authority at all.

Evin Haniti is the youngest of the Group IV and definitely the least experienced. Every other soldier has tried numerous times to escape, unsuccessfully; they are causing so much trouble that the Sireens are preparing a solitary room, made of stone with no windows, for them to be transferred. On the last day he manages to escape, traverses across the land, and after countless trials makes it back to the home base.
He is deemed too weak to help the fresh troops setting off to free the rest of the POWs, but manages to go anyway, since the troops don't know the layout of the enemy camp. They are far outnumbered and, even with Haniti's inside knowledge of the enemy, unlikely to take the enemy, especially when complications occur...

the cover 'art,' by the way, is just a random picture I took and decided it relates to the plot more than my masses of forest stills.
