Excerpt: The Fire from Heaven

It seems to me that I have always written, if not short fiction, both short stories and flash fiction, then poetry. And it has only been recently, since gaining a disability pension, and moving into an affordable, if somewhat cramped boarding house, that I decided that I would, at least, write an account of my days and my reading in Australian poetry. After all, poetry was my chief passion, and though I possessed only one book case, it was fairly well stocked with a selection of poets, many of them Australian.
