The toddler with the red curls and chubby legs, spotted a butterfly and tried to reach it with her dimpled hands. It flew just out of her reach. She followed it, through the gate, onto the edge of the road and plopped down in the middle of the dirt road. An old car slowed and stopped near the little girl. Just as quickly, the car pulled away, and no child was in the road or on the edgeof the road..
Poof! Gone! The settling dust left no trace of the car or the child.

Frankie remembered that Mama had told him to watch the baby, but he was playing marbles in the circle at the back of the barn. He stopped and ran around to the front of the house, no one was there. Then he ran around the house, all through the yard, but there was no baby outside. His feet barely touched the porch as he flew into the house, hoping his sister had gone back inside.
Frankie knew he was in big trouble, very big trouble, for the baby was nowhere to be found.
