Brief Author Bio:

I'm a Wiccan priestess, happy to consult with authors who want to be sure their Neo-Pagan characters are believing and behaving realistically. My next book (number six), The Portable Spell Book, is due out from Adams Media in July of 2009. I'm on the executive council of the Society of Southwestern Writers (www.ssa-az.org), and a member of "the other AAA," the Arizona Authors Association.

Synopsis: The Flower Bride

Bliss Harper (the narrator of The Green Boy, the novel I wrote last November) teaches Wicca 101 classes -- open to the public -- once or twice a year. One of her students in August '07 is a woman who, against all advice and counsel, wants to cast a love spell on a particular man. Even before Bliss finds out the man in question is one of her coveners, there are comic backfires -- and when the fella discovers that he's been enchanted, his anger brings the situation to the brink of disaster.

Excerpt: The Flower Bride

Bliss has done a simple Tarot spread, as she normally does before beginning a new set of 101 classes.

Those are pretty hard-assed cards. In the Moon you've got female mysteries and the unconscious, confrontation of fears, and, to put it bluntly, screw-ups as a result of disconnection from one's spirituality. In Judgment, transformation and restoration -- a healing process, the way I interpret it. And in the three of Swords, delay, disruption ... generally speaking, not a card you want to see on the right-hand side of a spread. I wasn't looking at total disaster, but I did see a long, hard slog -- and I wasn't sure at that point whether this reading applied to the class as a whole, or to one student.
