an excerpt
Miley could feel it. The pressure overcoming her will. Nothing could make the micro chip stop. Jared would contol her once again. Wesley would die in front of her eyes. All she did, all she sacrificed to save her family, friends, humanity itself, would not matter. Miley knew she was not strong enough. But this could not happen. She had to stop the force of the electric shock flowing through her mind like a gust of wind. Her arms were not hers, and moved without her will like a puppet. It was happening.
Wesley stood in front of her, kneeling in pain as Jared twitched his finger, ready to shoot at the spur of the moment. The others who had fought so triumphantly, lay on the floor, limp. Unconcious. Useless.
Miley knew it was up to her. All of her strength had to overcome the chip, no more would she be controlled like a puppet. She loved Wesley. She did this to protect him, hoping maybe to stop this terrible fate that was occuring. With all of her force of her will, she fought her thoughts, feelings, hoping to capture the ability to control her own body.
It was like a dream. The ones when your drowning, helpless. Trying to grasp a sip of sweet air. One gulp. You thrash in the water, squirming to reach the top, swimming til you feel your lungs will explode, and your arms might fall off. No matter how far you swim, its useless. The shimmering top is not to be obtained. Your useless. That is how this feels.
Miley grabbed at her hair, thrashing on the ground, rocks cutting into her skin. Blood trickles in her mouth, and she tasted the salty liquid as she bit her tongue in frustration. Miley saw Wesley, tears streaming down his face, as he gazed into the gun. His death. Not his, but everyones. Wesleys father, who tried to protect him from this fate. His friends, Logon, Amber, Bradly, Lani, and me. We failed him. Not him to us. I had to overcome the chip. The chip Nitrate Inc, had made put into my brain to protect us. It would not defeat me, I was stronger. I had friends, family, and people to save. I had a goal, Nitrate did not. I will win.
Miley clenched her fists, and pounded the ground, resisting the constant wave of electricity pulsing through her. Jared no longer glared at Wesley for a kill, but Miley. She was a threat now. She had overcome her one flaw. The one Jared had put into her.
Miley fought the pulse and waved her hand in front of the round glass bullets Jared fired at her, using the last of the trans-atom in her blood stream to produce a petite shock sheild that barely reflected the bullets. Miley would not need her abilities for this anyway. Her strength would defeat Jared, and save her friends and family.
"Obey me!" Jared growled, waving the micro chip control madule in front of her face. Miley used the last of her ability, and pointed at the module, fighting its electric pulses. Jared scowled and shoved it into her nose, trying his hardest to defeat her will power. "Miley, you cannot win. Give up."
Miley didn't have to think. She made her move so fast, that it hurt her so much. The pulses were immense, and almost made her cave in. It was awful, but she could not back down. "Shut it." And with that a beam was produced out of her finger and shot through the module and into Jared's forehead. He fell down with a thump, as the module exploded into flames and crackles. Miley looked, tired and releived that the pulses stopped, Jared was dead, and nitrate inc was closed. Miley had won.
