Brief Author Bio:

I was born in Wales and raised in Australia in a small town called Bacchus Marsh, which is known for two things: apples and bogans. Slighlty less known is that was home to Australia's celebrated expat author, Peter Carey.

I now live in Bristol, England, which is known for two things: cider and chavs. It's also the hometown some some of Britain's best writers and comedians.

I've been writing fantasy novels since I was fifteen, however after a four-year hiatus (co-incidentally about the time I started my career as a technical author) I've decided I to try nanowrimo as a means of re-igniting my interest in creative writing.

I'm returning to nanowrimo in 2009 having won it in my first year (2008) by writing a rather lame space opera. I hope to repeat my winning effort in 2009 by writing a rather lame techno-thriller.

Synopsis: Sine of 4

A computer scientist teams up with a police detective to investigate the disappearance of his sister.

Excerpt: Sine of 4

Joseph saw a faint light to his left and stepped inside a bedroom. The light came from a small, partially curtained window. In the centre of the room was a single, unmade futon, its duvet half on the floor. To the left was a walk-in wardrobe and another door that he guessed led to an ensuite bathroom. He entered the bathroom and was about to leave when a sudden blur of movement caught his eye. In a move driven by instinct, Joseph raised the hand carrying the gun to his neck, barely in time to foil the garrotte. The assassin yanked back hard and the wire began the cut into Joseph's wrist and the left side of his neck. A second pull robbed Joseph of his balance and he fell backwards. He fired a single shot and the gun fell from his fingers.
