Not Fit For Human Consumption
an excerpt

The planet itself was in peril now. Most of the life forms dead or dying, poison in the atmosphere and water, if the assault were allowed to reach its bitter conclusion, then all hope would be lost. This world would just become one of hundreds, perhaps thousands, that Arax the Annihilator had left in his wake. Another shell, devoid of life, a monument to his beloved death and chaos orbiting around the sun.

But earth still had one champion left. One savior, to halt the seemingly unstoppable juggernaut that had traveled across an interdimensional fold in space to land upon this planet and visit it with destruction. In a meadow, after noxious gasses had been blown away by the wind, Loretta stuck her nose out of the hole. She sniffed, and hopped out. She knew she too would die soon from the deadly radioactive isotopes that filled the grass around her. She didn’t care. This was still better than a slow death in the cage of the Jenkins’ living room.

She hopped around the meadow grass, free, dying, but living at the same time. She sniffed, hopped, enjoyed herself. She hopped to and fro, and then fro and to, and had a very nice little romp in the meadow.

She came across three silver moths and sniffed at them. She decided they very well could be a delicacy and ate them.

An interdimensional doorway collapsed, and with a loud sucking sound Arax the Annihilator was unwillingly pulled through and sent countless of millions of light years away, to a galaxy populated by sentient gas giants who consumed him in a nanosecond.

Loretta chewed the moths, then spit them out. She much preferred meadow grass, she decided, even if it was radioactive. What was the worst that could do to her, after all – turn her in to a giant rabbit that would rule the world?
