Synopsis: A Clearer Sky
Anne Blanc was only seven years old when her father died during the storming of the Bastille. Now, the Revolution is changing and the rising political factions are threatening to tear her family apart.
Excerpt: A Clearer Sky
She pulled a kerchief from her messy, fair hair. “Now, if you will excuse me for a moment, I will return shortly.” I watched in disgust as she walked to the scaffold, bent down and dipped it in Louis’s blood. She returned carrying the now-red kerchief with a sort of reverence that confused me. I had never pictured my sister as bloodthirsty before. I knew she was fixated on the Revolution, had been a strong supporter from day one, and I knew that she loved Citizen Robespierre madly but I had never expected this of her. I supposed she was just as easily wooed by blood as her Incorruptible crush.
