Synopsis: Seasonton Comes to Life

*This is actually a Sims 2 neighborhood I have been playing on and off for 2-1/2 years now and the story of the sims living in this neighborhood have been beating around in my head recently so I am writing my novel about them.*

Six families are drawn to a small town in the middle of nowhere by the offer of money and land. Each family has its own reasoning for accepting such an offer and each family must make their own way now that they are in Seasonton. What has brought them together? Will they and their descendants be able to make the deserted town a prosperous haven for future generations and families.

Excerpt: Seasonton Comes to Life

Dear Journal,

It's me, Rebecca. Well of course it's me, who else would be writing in you but me. We arrived in Seasonton today and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I was really hoping we'd be able to build a bigger house but the funds just ran out too soon so all we really have is one giant room with an attached bathroom that is thankfully fully enclosed and offers us some means of privacy. We can't afford walls just yet but somehow we managed to get a roof built over us. I'm sure the walls will come in time. It's just my parents and my daughter Allison. I'm hoping this move will be worthwhile and that we'll be able to begin again without the stigma of being a young, unwed mother following me around everywhere I turn. Ultimately it really was the gossips that drove us out, as if I was the only person responsible for the pregnancy when I was sixteen.

I really hope little Allison makes better choices then I did when I was young. When I was young, now that's rather funny coming from me considering I'm only 22 years old, it just feels like I'm much older then I really am. I'm ever so thankful to have the parents that I have. They've always been so supportive of me. They let me continue living with them at home when I found myself unexpectedly pregnant while the father of my child denied any responsibility. They might have been disappointed in me, but they never let Allison feel as if she had been a burden on our family, doting on her as only grandparents can.

Journal Entry #1

So begins a new life in a new town. I am a bit old to be starting over again but I would do anything to ensure my only daughter and granddaughter a happy life. I was always so concerned with learning new things that for most of my life I didn't really know what I was missing. My dear Beatrix did and I think it was eating her up inside that we remained childless no matter how how much we tried to have a child. Ah, Beatrix, my one true love. We met when we were both very young, teens if you could believe that. We fell in love quickly and on the occasion of our adult transition I got down on one knee and held open a ring box to her, pledging my heart to her and asking her to be mine for the rest of our lives. She took the ring with an awestruck wonder and slowly slid it onto her finger and then with tears in her eyes she threw herself into my arms telling me yes. We had a simple ceremony, standing beneath the arch, exchanging our vows with one another. I couldn't leave it like that though and after the ceremony I waggled my eyebrows, grabbed Beatrix, dipped her and proceeded to kiss her silly.

My dearest descendents, yes, I am writing directly to you. I am an old woman and I realize I have less life to live then I have already lived. I would so like to give you, my family, the benefit of my many years in this world and so I have decided to start this journal or diary, whatever it is you wish to call it, to be able to pass down the history of our kind for all those that follow me. We are a mix of feline and sim and have always lived in close proximity of others of our kind. I changed all that for our small clowder. You see, it is part of culture that once a female kitten reaches sexual maturity she must service all of the males in the community whenever they so desire. This is tradition so that we may have as many litters of kittens as possible and ensure the survival of our species. It has always been this way and I believe in our old world it would continue to be so. At the age of 13 I took my first lover and gave him a male kitten when I was but 14. From that point on I had many kittens by many different toms.

My youngest kitten was Tabitha, her father died shortly after she was born and I did dote on her so. By this point I was getting to old to bear anymore litters, although that didn't stop the toms from coming to my door in hopes of staying the night. As Tabitha grew I realized that she too must to take a lover and start to bear kittens. I was loathe to let her leave me and so decided that she would be my heir, thus insuring she would never leave my house. She was more then happy with this arrangement as she had not wanted to form her own clowder. As Tabitha reached her maturity, my other children left and merged with other chowders or started their own as was our way. Tabitha took her first lover, a very handsome tom by the name of Maine. He was attentive towards my youngest daughter during her pregnancy and made sure she wanted to for nothing. After she had her kitten, a very cute little molly that Tabitha named Cally. Maine was thrilled to have a daughter and became a regular in our house. That's not to say the other toms left Tabitha alone because they didn't. She was very beautiful and very young so was a huge favorite amongst the toms in our community. I worried over the affects this might have on her but Tabitha seemed to enjoy their attentions.
