Brief Author Bio: One may find the elusive Arkturium amongst many other creatures with which it shares its appearance. Found only in one area of Australia, this creature creates images of dragons and manly men with a utencil commonly known as the 'pencil'. Otherwise the Arkturium may be found tapping away at an ancient piece of technology called a laptop, making up complete nonsense. This is the custom of creating 'fictional stories'. |

Synopsis: The White Stones
A stone is all it seems to take to turn Kestrel's world on its head; she is hunted by the Emperor's Council Guards, racing them to get to the only place that she is told is safe. The south mountains, the very opposite edge of Temm.
Accompanied by the young man who has been trying to court her for months, and whom she has rejected each time; and a dark skinned mercenary called Rhiannon; they race south.
But other things are stirring, a man is killed and after an explosion of energy he crystalises into a white statue of a monster from only the oldest tales. Dragons, creatures that are told of by the common folk to disguise themselves with magic and rape and murder and steal wherever they could, have been sighted among the high grey and white peaks of the Watchtowers.
The Arch-Chancellor is becoming more vociferous about his plans for the enemies of the people of Temm; the Council Guard is being armed, and the soldiers of Temm are on edge.
What part does the small stone, that Rhiannon refuses to touch, play in this?
Excerpt: The White Stones
Kestrel went to draw her sword, but Rhiannon put her arm on Kestrel’s shoulder and mouthed ‘your bow’ at her. In a moment of horror and fascination she realised that Rhiannon meant to catch the pair of Council Guards by surprise; they were close enough that Kestrel was sure that she would hit where she aimed.
She slung her bow off her back and drew an arrow; she could hear Coal slowly drawing his sword as to not make enough of a sound to alert the two armed Guards ahead of them. She drew the bowstring taut, and aimed along the arrow; neither of the Guards were wearing helmets or heavy plating along their necks, so she selected a guard and aimed an arrow at the back of his neck.
A fleeting thought passed through her head that this was a cowardly thing to do, shooting at someone’s back, but she dismissed it quickly found her mark and loosed the arrow. There was a slightly wet sound as the arrow slid through the Guard’s neck, in one side and out the other, almost immediately blood started pouring from the wound; she had caught one of the main veins in his neck. The man grasped at his throat in blind effort to stop the bleeding, but his brain shut down and he collapsed and bled out next to his companion.
