Synopsis: Change
Chose "Other" because its both romance and Sci fi..
Val is used to spending her life moving at or faster than the speed of light. In an unexpected turn of events she and her shipmates find themselves thrust almost eighty years into the future, on what was supposed to be a trip 320 years into Earth's past.
The crew must now learn to adapt to their new reality. For Val, her world is literally turned upside down. She meets Sylvan for the first time and before she has a chance to catch her breath she finds herself being swept off her feet.
Excerpt: Change
They had reached the main recreation lounge aboard the ship. It was bustling with activity; mostly crew members and junior officers trying to find a diversion from their current situation. Scanning the room with his eyes he noticed that many were paired off in groups of five or less, mostly just talking.
Suddenly he felt himself drawn to two women talking in one corner. One was a human with shoulder length hair and something about her made him think of his friend Jack Simmons back at Starfleet Academy, but he put it out of his mind, as he wasn’t here to play matchmaker for his friends. The other, just captivated him. She was shorter than the human female and slight of built. As she was off-duty she wore her hair loose and it was extremely long and flowed to her waist. She just wore the white turtleneck and her skirt and knee-length boots.
While looking at her he thought he felt something, but he wasn’t entirely sure what he felt. Suddenly she stopped talking to her friend and stared directly at him. For a moment it felt as if they were the only two in the room. He noticed a slight smile trying to form on her lips that was matched by what he saw in her eyes.
