Synopsis:

My Personal Challenges: Write a novel not driven by a romance/attraction between the main characters. Write a "complete" novel in 50,000 words, instead of a swiss cheese novel that needs another 100k to really tell the story.

My Inspiration: Friends who have lamented the lack of quality "coming of age" adventures and/or the lack of strong, positive female characters for young women.

The Result: A novel wherein a 12 year old girl who stumbles through a magical doorway in a city park and enters a completely new world. Equal parts "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Neverending Story", with just a teensy dash of "The Princess Diaries".
