Excerpt: Memories from Me

During another Christmas, [perhaps even the same Christmas] I was cast as the Little Drummer Boy for the local child Nativity. Mom made me some little red knickers [that's plus-fours to you British types] and I wore a white shirt and had all of my hair [of which I had a LOT] up under a little brown hat so I would look more like a little boy. I think I even borrowed my big brother's shoes for the performance. The Boy Scouts had even made me a toy drum I could beat in time to the music. I sang all the verses flawlessly [I believe it's the only time in my life I've ever sang an entire song through with no mistakes, haha!] and everybody clapped so loud! I believe there were close to 300 people in the audience. It was the first time I'd ever performed on stage, and let me tell you, I loved it! I was hooked!
