Synopsis: Looking At You
[I started this novel last year for NaNo, and I wasn't able to finish it. I didn't write much over the rest of the year, so I thought I would finish it this year.]
The novel is about a teenage girl who falls for her best guy friend, things get a bit dramatic from there.
Excerpt: Looking At You
- PROLOGUE -
“I can’t do it anymore!” I was fighting back tears. “I just can’t keep pretending to be the supportive best friend, when everyone knows it shouldn’t be her that you’re with. It should be –”
“It should be who?! Who should it be, Kylie?”
I was hoping that it wouldn’t come to this. I said nothing; I just stood there, and looked at him. I was willing my heart to just stop it’s fluttering, and decide that it didn’t want him anymore.
I watched as the realization dawned on him. He looked at his feet, and stayed like that for what felt like hours. I waited for him to say something, praying to God that he would say the words I wanted to hear so desperately. My eyes were brimming with tears, and I knew that any second now, they would overflow.
“I... I... I’m... sorry.” I stuttered, and the tears overflowed. “I didn’t want it to be like this. I’m so, so, sorry.”
He finally looked up, and the look in his eyes was one I had never seen before.
