Brief Author Bio:

Hi, I’m Claire.

I often find myself wondering how I could possibly generalise myself to fit into a small box on a website. It’s only after I finish each time, I realise that, really, there isn’t that much to me or my life. At least not at the moment. Though given that I’m a person who has the tendancy to believe, and even sometimes hope, that the world will explode tomorrow, perhaps writing about the future isn’t exactly the best way to go about things either. I re-write things like this a lot. Some days I’m comprehensible others I’m completely incoherent, such is my day to day existence. Every time I write something like this, I manage to immediately find fault with it because I believe that most of what I’ve written probably make me look pretentious. And maybe I am just a little bit pretentious.

I’ve been asked before to sum myself and my life up in three words, all I could come up with was; ‘doesn’t like marmite’. Probably not the best thing to say in a job interview.

I’m something of a contradiction in terms; I can’t sleep but I have trouble waking up in the mornings, I hate Chester but I wish I was there right now and I don’t understand getting all emotional at a movie but Watership Down always makes me weepy... But, in my defence, there a few things in this life sadder than a dead bunny...

I probably hate more things than I actually like. Which in some ways makes things easier.

I do love Halloween though. It’s my favourite holiday of the year, followed closely by pancake day (though for entirely food related reasons rather than religious).

I’m fed up of people asking me if studying Law is hard. I get it, it’s a trap, right? If I say yes, then I’m showing off because I’m taking such a hard subject and if I say no I’m still showing off by trying to claim that I find a hard subject easy.

I’m a geek, I’ll put that on the table right away. However there are limits to my geekiness. Yes I like comics but no, I do not like Spiderman or Superman. I do not like them at all. And I do not like green eggs and ham, either. I’m also a Browncoat. If you’re not, then you should be. It’s shiny.

I love music. No, that doesn’t mean I want to compare bands. I’m fed up of this ridiculously judgemental musical culture and I’m really fed up with it dictating fashion and vice versa. If I wear baggy jeans I can still listen to Oasis, just like I can still listen to Korn wearing skinny jeans. Music is in my ears not on my clothes.

Also, I like to eat peanut butter from the jar.

Synopsis: Sod’s Law & Alternate Realities

A classic twenty-something loser, Jamie Phelps has been cursed with a life of mediocrity and bad luck. A college drop-out, living out of his parents basement he’s unable to keep a steady job and is terminally repellent to the opposite sex. To say that he hasn’t got an awful lot going for him would be a gross understatement.

So, you can imagine his shock when he accidentally discovers the secret of inter-dimensional travel; an Atari ST, Monkey Island, faulty electrics and a large glass of lukewarm cola. Unluckily for him, before he can announce his findings to the world, and finally change his fortunes, he’s going to have to find his way back through the constantly unstable and shifting rift in the fabric of realty that he has created.

And so begins the most epic journey that a loser has ever been called upon to make...
