Excerpt: Guardian of Light

“Fine, so what, you know what I don’t care anymore Dante.” I stormed off onto the road with him following closely behind.

Right here, this moment, if there was one thing I could change about my life this would be it. I would have forgiven him; we would have had a nice shopping trip and we would both be alright. Things have a funny way of working out, even when they don’t necessarily follow your plans. It took me a long time to figure this out though.

As I was crossing the road a speeding car came around the bend, it was being chased by a police car. Time slowed down for me, I could see the car getting closer and closer. Dante was screaming at me, “RUN Aurelia”. He didn’t stop running behind me, and pushed me out of the way…he absorbed most of the impact.
