Synopsis: Sun and Shadow
He was once the Thorn King of the western woods. Now Elan is a shade of his former self, cursed to spend eternity with his days among the living and his nights trapped in a magic mirror. Only if he learns to love can he be set free--but who could love him in return? Dozens of girls have tried only to fade to dust on the dawn of the anniversary of their marriage to him.
The last thing Lilith wanted was an arranged marriage. But now she finds herself traveling deep into the western woods to meet a man who had caused the deaths of countless girls just like her. Now she is a part of the curse, wedded to a man she has seen only once. Never again will she see the daylight, trapped in the mirror until the sun sinks below the horizon every night. Perhaps she could learn to love this king, but can she return hope to his heart at the same time?
Excerpt: Sun and Shadow
She hugged him tightly about the neck. “Papa, I don’t want you to go!”
“I know, little Lili. But I will be back in a month. Should I bring you back something from the western coast? Your sisters have already asked for many fineries and trinkets.”
Lilith shook her head. “I only want my papa back safely.”
“Nothing?” he wheedled, wiping away her tears again.
Sniffing, she turned her head to look out the window at the ocean in the distance. “A lily.”
“What, no golden jewels or embroidered dresses?” he joked.
“Papa!” she swatted him on the arm. “A lily. I have not seen one since we moved here, and I miss them very much.”
“Then on my honor as a gentleman, I will return with a lily for my youngest daughter.”
