Brief Author Bio:

Currently a sophomore in college, I'm up to my elbows in things I should or could be doing instead of NaNo. So what am I doing? NaNo, of course. Time management has never been a skill of mine, to be certain. But this year, I've got some friends on campus to write with, which means I might actually get something accomplished this year.

I study foreign languages (Japanese at the moment, Spanish in the past), as far as my major is concerned. Beyond that, I'm also studying History and Creative Writing. It makes for a quirky combination.

I've been writing for a long time. I was the child that could never stop telling fairy stories or making up tall tales at the dinner table. I wrote my first "real" story as a third grader. Having grown frustrated with watching re-runs of Pokémon, I delved into the dangerously addicting realm of fanfiction. A few years later, this began to annoy me as well. I was always more satisfied with my own characters than the ones that were already there for me to work with. So I basically abandoned fanfiction in favor of writing my own work. And I haven't stopped churning out ideas since.

Last year, I made it to just shy of 7,000 words. This year, I'm setting a personal goal of 10,000 words. Is the official goal 50,000? Yes. Will I make it that far? Probably not. Will I still try? Yes. 10,000 is just a smaller goal so that I can still feel some sense of accomplishment at the end of NaNo, for at least having beaten last year's word count.
