Brief Author Bio: Hello, you can call me Kat while on the interwebs, and I recently moved to Stirling, Scotland while my husband is on an exchange program here, from Alaska. I didn't get to finish Nano last year, thanks to work and school, but hopefully since I don't have either of those this year, I will be able to manage! |

Synopsis: Metropolis (pending)
Once, over a thousand years ago, there was a beautiful metropolitan city where all varieties of magic and their users lived in harmony. It was vast and held residences for the population of nearly all the people of the era, few living outside of its reach.
For many years, all ten races and their magic lived at peace with each other, and all benefited through their relations. There were some amongst the populous, though, who did not like this golden age of peace and mutual respect. No one is sure who started them, but rumors flew and lies spread like a disease throughout the city, till the different sects of talent were railing against each other rather than working together like they had in the past. Had the whole city worked together and realized what was happening, the metropolis might have been saved. But alas, the different powers went their separate ways, each branching off to build their own large cities.Generations later, in the current day the story of the once great city has faded into legend, and its name has been forgotten, now only referred to only as 'The Metropolis'. In current times, no one knows of where this legendary city was located, though many archaeologists from all the cultures have set out in search of it. One night, not too long ago, Master mages and groups of citizens from each city abruptly vanished from their beds. No one knows where they went, but what they do know is that if the Master mages are not found quickly, the new generation of mages will have no guidance in learning how to control their new powers, something that could prove disastrous for the entire continent.
Excerpt: Metropolis (pending)
“This is the border.” Kria answered quietly. “The trees behind us belong to the god of my people, Numare. They are unique in all of the world. Our land of Temaris is the only place they can grow. Those trees,” she said, gesturing to the much larger ones with brown bark and green leaves “belong to Lobai, god of the Terrans. To a certain extent, Lobai holds sway over every tree in the world, except the Temarite ones, because their roots are in the underworld, and thus draw their power from the realm of our god. The two trees do not mix, and so the eastern border between the two countries is quite easy to tell.” She was silent a long moment before she spoke again. “This is my first time seeing it.”
Fen looked at her in surprise. She had carried herself so well the whole way thus far that he had assumed she was an experienced traveler. “This is your first time this far from home?” he asked curiously as he looked down at her.
“Yes.” she replied, still staring straight ahead. Most of her people never traveled this far from home, to the very edge of their country.
