Brief Author Bio:

I'm 30, so apparently I'm in the midst of the infamous "Return of Saturn..." If you're into that sort of thing, I guess it means I'm being tested right now and must rearrange my life so that its systems are more sustainable. It's like a big life-house cleaning or a final rite of passage into actual adulthood. It seems to be working out fairly well so far, knock on wood. I guess from this you can tell I'm mildly superstitious. I do have a rational and analytic side as well. I enjoy teaching freshman composition and creative writing at two Bay Area community colleges. I am somewhat Marxist, but more of a (Paulo) Freire-ista. I also love theater, particularly for social change. I enjoy performing my own poetry and monologues and have done that quite a bit in the poetry slam scene both locally and nationally. I've also had a play produced in the San Francisco Fringe Festival, am currently working on a screenplay with Scary Cow Films in San Francisco, and wrote and performed with a queer ensemble theater project for a year. I have a one-woman show I've performed a few times and hope to perform again. For more on that part of my life, check out my website.

In general, I like geeking out about a range of things: from Buffy and Battlestar Galactica to political, social and literary theory to pedagogy. My goals are these: I want to travel, make more money (still sorting out the dream job), perform my one-woman show at least once more in a bigger venue, publish my memoir, write this novel, and learn Spanish.

Synopsis: Many Goodly Creatures: A Cycle of Stories After the Second American Revolution

The first story:

One of the female architects of a superficially liberal New World Order in the US and a white racist homophobic man who fancies himself the leader of a conservative resistance have an affair.

There are several more (interconnected) stories, still being developed!

O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!

--Miranda, The Tempest

“It seems inevitable that my utopia would be someone else’s hell.”
--Octavia Butler
