Brief Author Bio: A film graduate with a fondness for the colourful individuals in our often dull society. Raised in Cyprus, brought to England, filtered through the Internet almost daily via blog (though trying forever to keep it away from emo). I've made and worked on several short films, been involved in a crap-looking feature film, done a music video for a great singer-songwriter and wrote and directed a theatre piece that I'm taking on a mini-tour in November and December. Help me. |

Synopsis: You Don't Know Everything [TBD]
South Norwood, Croydon, the present. Selena is a half black, half white eight-year-old who battles haters at school and discovers womanly feelings for a beautiful boy named Markus.
When she finds out that her mother has been fired from her job due to some recession, Selena turns vigilante. With the knowledge that she is a 'stunningly beautiful' and gifted actress, she knows she cannot fail to avenge her mother, snag Markus and silence the haters forever.
Unfortunately, things take a dramatic turn and Selena is taught a harsh lesson about life very early on: sometimes bad things happen, and there are no villains to blame. There aren't always conspiracies to expose and, at eight years old, you don't know everything.
Excerpt: You Don't Know Everything [TBD]
Mum gets glad whenever Selena mentions anybody from school. Even if she’s only spoken 8 words to them, Mum calls them her “friends”, and every time they go to the Elmers End Tesco, she stares at the party napkins and asks Selena how she’s getting on with PE. Selena never really answers properly because she doesn’t want to break her mother’s heart; the truth is, she doesn’t really like anybody at school. There’s Sammy, who’s clever and sweet but talks about comics like they actually happened yesterday in his room. And there’s Tyrone, who has lovely green eyes, but Selena became increasingly disturbed by his asthma while they were doing colour wheels and kept her distance since. She liked a Chinese girl called Xian but she emigrated to Russia. And that’s about it. The other girls are nasty. One of them especially – Yusra – who wears a hijab and has a lazy smile, full of gums. She talks to Selena with half her mouth and only bile comes out.
