Brief Author Bio: I've been writing since I was about eight or nine to some degree or another and I like to think I've improved a little over the years. I spend far too much time on the computer and often wish I was back in Montana, but truth be told I'd probably be hanging out with friends and having a real life if I lived up there. But who knows? Maybe they'd keep me on track... ...And maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot... |

Synopsis: A Simple Thought
Another attempt at completing an urban fantasy novel. We'll see how it goes.
This story is about a sophomore at the University of Montana named Hannah. Once she starts hearing voices, it isn't long before she figures out that she's hearing the thoughts of the people around her. After the initial shock wears off and she begins to have some control over her newly acquired ability, she decides to put it to good use finding lost people who are within "listening distance." After a time she is questioned by a member of law enforcement who discovers her secret, but instead of sending her to a lab asks if Hannah would help her in her ongoing investigations.
In time, though, Hannah discovers that it's not always best to know what everyone's thinking.
Excerpt: A Simple Thought
Excerpt #1:
The alarm clock woke her once again before she could investigate more. The thoughts of the spectators completely forgotten, Hannah's eyes opened as she thought of a name she hadn't thought about for a couple of weeks: Gabe. She didn't know exactly how she knew, but she knew that she had just seen her older brother who had run away from home when she was only five years old. Nine at the time, he had never come home and no one could even guess what had happened to him, so it was no wonder that she was surprised to see him as he easily could have appeared fourteen years later. It was surreal and she wondered what would have brought thoughts of him to her mind. Perhaps her subconscious thought that she it had been too long since she'd thought about her brother and decided to put an image in her head to remind her. If that was the case, it had done its job and she was sure she'd be thinking about that dream for a few days at least. It was still reasonably fresh in her mind when she left her dormitory and headed to her first class of the week, Introduction to Judo.
