Synopsis: The Year

"365 days have never seem so short."

19-year-olds are supposed to be having the time of their lives; college life, keg parties, hangovers, and hook ups with really attractive people. Unfortunately for Jayden Alexander Young [Jay], he has isn't doing any of that; he's a taxi driver. For as long as he can remember, about 364 years give or take, he has been driving a taxi. It's not the best occupation out there, but Jay enjoys it. Especially with all the interesting passengers he drives around. Never once has he ever questioned why he was a taxi driver; he just left it as it is. That is until he met Alexandra Madrid. The most uptight, stressed out, bi polar girl he has ever met, and she's only his "age. Their first meeting began with Alex yanking the car door open, throwing her bags in, slamming the door shut, and a greeting of, "Your car smells like shit." Jay's in for a hell of a year driving this misfit around

Excerpt: The Year

“Now Jay, what are you going to do about this Alex girl?” Kaly asked.

“I’m going to do what I always do.” Jay replied. He got up from his seat and walked over to the big window that overlooked the city, “Finish the year with her and when the year’s up... Actually, I don’t know what to do when the year’s up. It’s finally coming to an end now, huh?”

“Yeah it is... but when the time comes, you’ll know what to do.” Kaly answered sorrowfully, “Well, I’ll keep checking in from time to time. You should get back to your job now Jay. See you!”

With a loud clap, Kaly was gone and Jay was left alone with his thoughts.

‘I just hope that I will be able to finally let her go.’
