Excerpt: The Crimson Court
Talia was momentarily relieved that she was spared the embarrassment of fumbling with the complicated clasp. That relief was almost instantly replaced with suddenly feeling both naked and ridiculous standing in front of these two supremely elegant— creatures?--- in her nightgown and a winter jacket that bore more than a passing resemblance to a fur-trimmed marshmallow.
“What is that?” Nyx asked.
Thanatos poked at her jacket gently. “It’s quilted,” he said.
“Well, that’s an appropriate treatment for a blanket, but it’s hardly flattering for a coat. She looks swollen," Nyx said.
“I am not swollen!” Face hot with embarrassment, she removed her jacket as quickly as possible. She stood in her nightgown… and the rainboots.
They stared at her.
