Excerpt: Fangs and Fortune

I'm also a vampire. That is an affliction which has its advantages and its drawbacks. The drawbacks are that I'm allergic to sunlight and can't eat anything really interesting, like chocolate. That's a pity because I was very fond of chocolate during my living days. I managed to steal a few pieces of fudge from the cook one time, when I was about nine, and thought I'd gone to heaven. Alas, that is only a distant memory now. There are times when I wish I could find a man who has chocolate running in his veins instead of blood. It's unfair of fate to deprive me of such delicacies. Fans send me five pound boxes of chocolate bon-bons and I have to give them to the maid or the house keeper. Sometimes I have intimate little dinner parties for select friends and I pass the chocolates around with the brandy. I have to pass up those treats and plead that I'm watching my weight. That smoldering gaze of mine which male fans find so entrancing comes from thinking about chocolate covered cherries and chocolate creams with rum centers.
