The whole of the Neglabed seemed to be in that clearing. Easily one hundred sorceresses were in the clearing in full ceremonial dress. The chanting and feel of power was almost defining at this point. Sylaria moved inwards through the circle, meshing with it as she went. The grace she showed as she moved made her seem to almost float. Once she reached the middle she began to focus the power. Andrian wasn't sure exactly what was happening, but focus was the best word he could come up with. The soft glow that could be felt if not always seen got brighter as one looked towards the middle. The chanting had gotten so low that it was impossible to even understand the words.
A sword could be seen sitting in the middle of the circle. While originally rather plain sword, a slim blade with light rune work up the length of the blade and a simple tang, it began to glow with an inner light. The chanting continued with Sylaria running her hands over the sword. The sword seemed to be absorbing the glow from the circle almost becoming translucent. Andrian had never seen magic like this before. A sense of building continued untill a bright flash and a thump that was felt but not heard came from the circle.
"It is done" Sylaria shouted. "This sword will lend strength to your arm, speed to your healing, and once joined with other magical items help you earn a crown."
Sylaria picked up the sword and handed it to Andrian. It didn't feel any different than a normal short sword, yet there was an odd sheen to the steel. Perhaps there was something to this quest. The war had to end someday. Perhaps it didn't have to end with death. The first stirrings of hope he had felt in a long time started.
