Synopsis: Taking Places

Mysterious deaths are appearing throughout the city, though there is an odd trait that links them.

The body of the person in question is always much older than the death indicates. How is it that somebody can be so long dead, yet was just seen walking yesterday.

When one of his future mistresses undergoes the same misfortune, Damarian Vasilis Zaccheo realizes there are things more dangerous than him that stalks the night and personally takes it upon himself to rid the people of this new menace. Because everyone knows that only vampires are allowed to stalk the night.

Excerpt: Taking Places

The white mouse crawls from its hiding spot, its small pink nose testing the air. Its red eyes take in the surroundings. It notices its recent pursuer lies not far.

Curious, as all small rodents are wont to be, it crawls towards the little girl to inspect her, its tiny frame crawling amongst her own searching for the likes of food to be carried away for its own purposes.

Her skin is rapidly losing warmth. Her body is so tiny, that without the constant motion of blood and necessities of life to move it, she is fast becoming a cold pile in an alley.

The mouse, dissatisfied at finding no morsel to sate its appetite gives an indignant squeak and scurries back to its hole.

The girl is forgotten, her image taken by a false creature and her parents none the wiser.
