Excerpt: To Be Honest
I stoped halfway out the door and loooked back into my house.
"Bye mum" I said to her, she was smiling, her brown hair falling naturally aroiund her face.
Have fun at school honeyshe replied
"Yeah yesah" I didn't saee what the fuss was, it wasn't like it was the first time I'd hchanged schools.
Seriously though, don't make a foo,l out of yourself my sister said, her eyes twinkling, a slight smileplaying across her lips. She looked almost identical to my mum, the only difference was height.
"Sure Tama"
Call me Tammi She snapped, I smiled, always the same.
Let the child go to school Dad said, glanced at him, he was serious as always but one eyebrow was slightly raised, his equivalent of smiling.
"Bye guys" I said, putting the photo back on the table next to the door. I sighed, for a moment it was like they were all still there. Closingthe door I started walking to the bus stop, removing all thoughts of them as I did so.
A new school, a new life. I smiled to myself but onyl briefly, how many times had I thought that in the past nine months? But I couldn't dwell on the past, for in this new life none of my past mattered, or existed.
