Synopsis: Aletta, Volant

Aletta Hypatia is coming of age in 1st Century Pompeii. Being the daughter of one of the region's most prominent citizens, she is guarenteed admission into the elite society of the city. She has banquets to attend and suitors to beguile. Everything is in place for courtship, betrothal, marriage, and motherhood. But when a boy from her long ago childhood reenters her life, their friendship is reignited and sparks into a forbidden tryst. The upper class world that Aletta has prepared for and dreamt of begins to feel like a gilt cage of deceit, debauchery, and desolation. Torn between honoring her family and indulging her heart, Aletta must choose between surrendering the security and status of a respectable marriage or forgoing the fervor, friendship, and freedom she so desperately desires.
