Excerpt: Memories Lost

Notebook 2
-night eight

I had my hands bound. I tried opening my eyes but they wouldn’t open. Something was holding them shut. A hand brushed my face. I turned in a jerking manor. Someone pulled back my hair. “She’s beautiful,” A voice said, running there hand along my jaw bone.
“What the hell?” I asked. (Pardon my language)
“Aw. She’s awake. How is the Black Beauty holding?” The same voice asked.
“Black Beauty? Who are you talking to, dumb ass?” I hissed.
“Calm down, Sissy,” I heard a pleading voice say. My senses went numb and I had no reason to be pissy. I couldn’t be pissy.
“Much better,” The first voices said as my chin was lifted. A sent entered my nose. A sent like… the forest I used to play in as a kid. Odd smell. I’m guessing some kind of guy perfume? “Now. How did you manage to get into the fields without being seen?”
“How do you think? We rod into it.” I snapped back.
A hand came across my face. My cheek burned. “Who is she to be a bitch?” A new voice asked.
“Don’t do that! The boss ‘ll be pissed,” The first one said to the new voice.
“Oy! Can we take the one thing off her eyes?” The coxing kid voice asked.
“Yeah. One minute.” There was some shuffling about and my eyes were opening. What had they done to get it like that? I probable won’t know.
“She’s even more breath taking,” The kid voice said. And there was a little boy before me. He was maybe five- six years old. So young. He reminded me of Jessie. Why was he here?
“No. Gorgeous,” The first voice came and there before me stood a boy my age, blond, built like Jack and he was holding my chin up to look into my eyes. They don’t get it do they? I don’t truly like being called any of those names.
“She’s still a bitch,” The last voice said. With that the first boy with the blond hair let go of my chin and I turned to see- I gasped. Nothing could come through me as that surprising in my life. There, before me stood a boy that looked as though he had popped out of a fairy tale. He look like and elf almost with white hair and blue eye. Something was in his hair, on his head. His hair came down to his shoulders. The elf boy looked at me with disgust. Wha’d I do?
“Your not supposed to even be talking to her. Keep it down or he’ll know about it, Haith,” The blond said.
The little boy walked casually up to me and sat on my lap. “Can she stay?” He asked. I still don’t see how he liked me at all.
“Where’s the Black Dragon?” I asked quickly as the elf tried to answer.
“The Black Dragon? We have a Ryu but no Black Dragon,” The blond said turning to me again. “Who is this Black Dragon?” He was interested now. The little boy jumped off my lap.
“No one,” I said. “You’ll probable meet him later.”
“What did you say?” The elf, Haith asked. He was in my face now.
I looked up meeting eyes with him and giving my most courageous face. With that I gave a sneer of a reply. “Why would I say it twice. I though elves had good hearing.” For that my chair fell over, my cheek burning again. A tear escaped me.
“Why you-” The blond was restraining him now.
“Leave,” The boy told them both. And with that they both left. Haith was still glaring at me though. I looked at the boy. He was looking down on me. “I’m sorry about my brother. He’s quite temperamental.” He looked down on his hands and then back down on me. “I’d say we need an older one in here to help you up.” The boy didn’t sound like a boy.
“I’d say so.” I looked behind me. There stood above me, Ryu.
The boy went down on his kneel and mumbled, “Crap.” His body went almost transparent and when his body structure came back and he was a grown boy. Sixteen at the youngest. I lay my head down on the cement floor hoping to see most of the fight to come.
Ryu launched himself at the boy. He was younger but he could still take him. The boy threw a punch knocking him back for a second. The boy got to his feet and waited for Ryu. Patient and even more fair than a normal fight. He was probable holding back.
Ryu came back at him landing a hit to the boy’s side. He side stepped a little and then his own leg came around and hit Ryu. Ryu stumbled back again. The boy waited, again. The next time Ryu landed a hit the boy went flying and nearly hit me. All my nerves were on edge again as the boy lifted himself, watching me. Why? Well… He kissed me! That’s why. His tongue slipped in and out barely noticed as a dull sensation entered me.
Ryu ripped the boy from his attachment and held his collar. He was pissed. Now this was the infamous Black Dragon. His eyes were like little devils boring into the boy. “Name,” He demanded.
“Nash.” And with that I screamed with the pain that shot through me. They both looked at me. I could barely tell though. My eyes were pretty well shut. I heard a thud and a hand fumbling at the rope that bound my hands. I was released and the pain completely stopped. What had the boy, Nash done to me? I still don’t know. I opened my eyes to find Ryu looking down on me with concern. Nash was crumpled against a wall. Just knocked out, but it would be a while before he awoke or he’d have a major headache.
Ryu pulled me up and out of there. We raced down dimly lit halls. Right. Right. Left. Right. Left. Finally we burst out through a black door into bright sunshine. Wait never mind. It wasn’t. Next thing we knew we were both hand cuffed and pushed down to sit against a wall. Now that we had a better view we saw it had been a trap. Props lay about the metal room and a huge light fixture with a bright light in it lay on a ladder facing the door.
The boy that reminded of Jack switched off the light and Nash walk through as the little boy. He had a hand rubbing the side of his head. “Well that was quick,” Ryu mumbled. The elf boy, Haith walked though the door with a man. The man had short black hair and he wore a white suit. All three walked towards us. “Don’t say anything. I have all they want for the time being,” Ryu told me.
“Ryu, my friend. Or is this the Black Dragon ready to speak?” The man asked as he steped up before us.
“That’s on a need to know basis. No one needs to know,“ Ryu growled. Yep. That’s right. The Black Dragon was speaking.
“Care to have that talk, Ryu?” The man asked, taking a glance at me.
“Sevar,” Ryu said to him. The man smirked and shock his head in disaproval.
“Damina govor,” The man said to him.
“Govor? Dami rava,” Ryu said.
“Dosa mani. Ryu, why do you hide this from the Black Beauty? She should know.”
“Moro. Dami.”
“If she knew you wouldn’t have us talk in the code. Why don’t you tell her?” The man asked.
“Jase mime,” Ryu said, his temper rising.
“Well. Jessica, The White Rose. You are-”
“Shud’up!” Ryu cried. His face was red.
“You shut up,” The little Nash growled in a metallic voice. Ryu calmed right down. “Let the boss speak.”
Ryu was silent. He was glaring but he was silent. “You’re The Black Beauty for us. Hopefully Ryu can explain more but your life is short. We want you to enjoy a stay at our place.” The man looked around and gave a well-you-get-my-point smile. “Tomorrow is a ball. You and Ryu -well with ever side decides to come out- will attend that ball. Now see you tomorrow. Haith will lead the way and these two-” He motioned to the Jack boy and little Nash. “-will escort you. Good night.” And with that he was gone. Out of thin air he was gone.
“The little Nash took my arm and hosted me up to my feet and the Jack boy took Ryu. The elf, Haith glared at both of us and finally turned. He walked out a door opposite of the door I think we had entered through. We followed. Three halls fell off from a main hall. We took the center one. It led to bed chambers. The Jack boy branched off first and took Ryu into a door the color of grass.
We continued farther down the hall. I looked down on Nash with question. He looked up, feeling my gaze and smiled reassuringly. But hey, both of the ones with me now I couldn’t trust. Not with Nash’s ability to tell people what to do and for them to do it and then the el- Sorry. Then for Haith’s ability to completely hate me. Who could I trust?
We finally came to a door. A door is a huge understatement. Maybe a huge door? Well this ‘door’ was the color of fire. All the colors of fire. A bit of red. A bit of orange. A bit of yellow. And just a hint of blue for the few odd times it’s blue. Haith pushed the door open and all of us walked in. It was a huge room, just as the door. I bed bigger than my own room lay draped in curtains, to one wall. A dresser sat against another wall and a door led out probable into a bathroom. Little Nash kneeled, transforming and stood up again.
“I’ll take the cuffs off only if you don’t run,” Nash said to me and I nodded. I wasn’t going to speak to them unless I had to. The cuffs were unlocked and I rubbed at the light marks they had made. I was sore and tired once again.
“Here,” Haith sneered and I managed to catch the heap that landed in my arms.
“Thanks,” Okay. That one slipped. Let’s start that hush puppy game again.
“Good night. See you in the morning,” Nash, with his brown, moppy head said pushing Haith out of there. I headed for the door, hoping to find a bathroom. Bingo.
_._._._._
I had managed to fall asleep in the bath I had taken. I wasn’t even near exashtion though when it happened. Why is everyone trying to make me fall asleep? I was still tired when I woke up, maybe even more than when I had fallen asleep.
I climbed out of the bath and changed into the pjs the elf boy gave to me. Whops. Sorry. Haith. I pulled open the door and walked to the huge bed. Why was it so huge? No one person could ever fill it. I pulled the curtains closed behind me after making sure no one was there. I fell asleep again.
Later that night I jolted upright from a nightmare, sweat on my brow. I scrambled to the tip of the bed and pulled the curtains aside. I was greeted by a light. I squinted into the brightness as my eyes adjusted. There seamed to only be one figure there. Nash.
“What are you doing in here?” I asked, rubbing my eyes. He turned.
“Sorry. I was checking up on the room. You know. You’re technically a hostage but not too,” He commented. He turned back to his work.
“And?”
“Nothing.” He headed for the door. And the lights went off. I fell asleep once more. This was getting annoying.
