From inside, a man brandishing a shotgun appeared. He was dressed in a tattered plaid shirt and jeans, and on his weathered face had grown an unkempt beard.

He had swung the shotgun around and aimed at the bunny that had hopped itself into midair. Harry ducked as the man fired, and the blast threw the bunny back down into the others. The other bunnies looked at the prone bunny who now stood at their feet and seemed momentarily confused.

"Get inside both of you quick!" the man yelled.

Fiona and Harry needed no further encouragement and they quickly went into the dimly lit house. The man brandishing the shotgun quickly closed the door and bolted inside. Outside, the clash of rabbits against wood was heard.

"Geezers man, are you guys crazy going outside at this hour? And why'd you bring them here! I have a family for god sakes!"

The man motioned inwards and now that Fiona's eyes were adjusting to the darkness of her surroundings, she could see a group of people huddled in a far corner, who she presumed was his wife was clinging onto a young boy and girl, both seemingly around the same age - not more than 10 years old.

The clawing intensified as more bunnies surrounded the house. They now seemed to be coming from more than just the front porch.

"What are they?" cried Fiona

"Are you kidding me?" said the man.

"No I'm not! Are they trying to kill us?"

"Of course they're trying to kill us! They're zombie bunnies! Creepers, where did you guys come from?"

"They're zombie bunnies? Like...walking er, hopping dead kind of zombies...brains?"

"Yes, they're everywhere at this hour!, how you made it this far alive is beyond me!"

Between two planks covering a nearby window, a furry arm appeared and tried to claw and swipe its way at whatever was inside.

The man rushed to the planks, stuck the muzzle of the shotgun between both boards and fired. A squeal and puff of fur appeared.

"Does shooting them work?" asked Fiona, "if they're already dead?"

"Oh yes, a dead undead bunny is dead."

The man aimed again and fired. Another squeal.

The clawing died down a bit again but the bunnies kept thumping against the walls.

"Are they going to give up?" asked Harry

"Now that they know there are people here," replied the man, "they aren't going anywhere any time soon."

The man sat down in the middle of the room and seemed resigned. The woman and children looked scared and worried.

"Mind if I look around the house?" asked Harry.

The man looked at him and nodded. "Go ahead," he said.

The man was looking at Fiona. "How is it you know nothing of the bunnies?" he asked her.

"We come from really far away," started Fiona.

"But we thought the bunnies had taken over world. There's someplace where bunnies aren't trying to kill you?"

Fiona tried to change the subject, "But why are they trying to kill us? Would they be zombies in the literal sense, eating brains and turning us into zombies ourselves."

"Oh yes," the man said, "they eat zombie brains and turn other bunnies into zombies. Humans are just in the way."

"In the way of what?"

"Total bunny domination. Bunnies are inheriting the Earth."
