Excerpt: The Spirit Postmaster

I couldn’t see into any of the offices off of the hallway. Was there a storage room full of little cardboard boxes back there? Were other people going to wander in and wait to pick up their relative’s cremated remains while I was sitting there? I might have to share the small seating area, and if that happened, I had planned to go into gynecology waiting room mode where I would take out my reading glasses, act like I was about to read an important and riveting article, and bury my nose in my very mature magazine.
