Brief Author Bio:

So basically, I just love writing as much as anyone else here. Last year was my first NaNoWriMo, and I've been waiting since the beginning of spring to try it again! I only reached 24,000 words in fifteen days last year, but this year I KNOW that I'll finish.

I'm also interested in foreign languages, so a lot of my writing includes words and phrases in other languages.

Music is another thing that inspires my writing, too. Sometimes I'll hear a song and write an entire story inspired by it.

Synopsis: The Chess Room's Clockwork

Some people have said that life is a game. People are just pawns in a never-ending game. What most people don't know is that it actually is a game.

In a strange dimension far from Earth exists a room, only accessible by portals. Inside this room is a chess board covered in millions of black and white chess pieces. Centered above the chess board is a clock, constantly ticking. If the clock stops, everything will stop along with it. Few people know about the room, but those who do have to power to control anyone and anything on Earth simply by playing a game of chess.

Adelaide Blackwell, a Sky Pirate of the airship Alexandria is one of the people to discover the portals. Fighting her enemies, King Dimitri's Empire, has never been easier. With one wrong move, though, all of her plans could backfire.

She's just a pawn, after all.

Excerpt: The Chess Room's Clockwork

Spread across the entire floor of the room was a chess board; a giant chess board with millions of black and white tiles. Thousands upon thousands of pawns sat on the board, lined up like miniature soldiers. From what I could see, most were congregated on the outskirts of the board, but some were dispersed throughout the middle. Almost all of the pieces were pawns; black and white; but there were also several kings, queens, knights, and other pieces.

I pulled myself to my feet, and stood at the edge of the board. A quiet scraping sound echoed through the room, accompanied by a loud, constant ticking. When I watched the board for a few seconds, I noticed that every few seconds, a piece would move.

After staring in shock for a few seconds, I knelt down by the edge of the board. Each average size chess pieces appeared to be carved out of marble. The base of each piece had a name engraved in it. Right now, I was looking at the king.

The name read, "Jamieson Arnold."

When I read the names next to his, they were all labeled as members of our crew. When none of the Alexandria's crew was left, the names moved on to the other Yuuvelere ships.

As I crawled along the chess board, reading each name, I noticed one thing wrong with it. There was no piece with my name on it in the section with our crew's names. Wondering if I'd missed it, I stood up and walked back.

Just a few feet away from High Captain Jamieson's piece was a knocked over chess piece, outside the board. Carefully, I picked it up, and read the name.

It was my name.
