What he found astounded him. Now that her mind had settled he could clearly see the complex form of her memories. Most people’s memories were laid out in neat organized linear progressions. Some parts could be blank or fuzzy, or clearer than others. Some memories glowed because they brought joy, others could be dark and clouded if they were painful. But Hermione’s memories were a gigantic tangle. He could see the singular linear progression from birth to childhood but around the time she entered the portal, there was layer upon layer of fractured, and shattered memories overlapping one another. Perhaps a hundred glowing pieces intertwined with dark clouded ones. What on Earth had they done to her?
