Brief Author Bio: Hello! I don't know how you got here. About me, if you're interested: My name is Nadia, and this is the second time around that I'm doing NaNoWriMo. I have tons of unfinished stories lying around, and I've really only completed one novel before. I'm also an artist, and between NaNoWriMo and art class, I get a lot of creative stuff done. What else...? I live in the wonderful state of Arizona, where our low so far is a glorious 42 degrees. I'm originally from the northeast coast, and still haven't quite acclimatized. I am primarily a science fiction and fantasy writer, although I admit to writing tragedy as well. I can't write a good romance- it always ends up sporadic and more comedic than anything else. I love Supernatural, Psych, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Chuck, Heroes, Big Bang Theory, Merlin, White Collar, Highlander, etc. There is also a multitude of anime and manga that I've read/watched. If you can name it, I've probably watched and/or heard about it. |

Synopsis: Ten Items or Fewer
Timory is the fifth child of his family, and quite honestly, he has too many siblings for any privacy. He wakes up to three of his brothers fighting over one bathroom, his sisters peacefully occupying the remaining two, his aunt squabbling with his grandmother about breakfast, and his parents fighting. Truthfully, he feels as though the world should be a little bigger.
Timory reads adventure stories, and eventually, he wants to have an adventure of his own. One day, Timory meets the Traveler (no, you can't know his name yet). He gets conned into buying a canoe while said Traveler tries to court his older sister, and accidentally floats down the river in it before he learns how to use it.
It just so happens that Timory is six towns over when his family finds out, and by that time, he's already been arrested. Oops?
His journey along the river leads to prison, companions of the criminal sort, illegal border crossing, theoretical survival skills, and conspiracy. (Epic.)
Excerpt: Ten Items or Fewer
There was a Girl on his table. Well, the table of the kitchen of his comfy little prison suite, but it was still his table.
The Girl slipped off the table, marching up to Timory solemnly. "Seriously, you have to stop. It's really weird. You can talk to me, you know? And I could answer your questions."
"You--" Timory wondered. "You are actually talking to me. In my kitchen. This is very odd. You know, I've never talked to a girl in the kitchen before. Have you? Well, I suppose I'm a man. Perhaps that makes things different. Still, I've only ever had Sumir in here before and he claims that it is sort of the same. Have you ever talked to a woman in this kitchen? Oh, well, I suppose it wouldn't be this kitchen, but it would be your kitchen, you know-- wherever you live. Do you live alone? I mean, I suppose I live alone. Do you live alone though? I suppose I never properly asked."
